One of the big names who could try his luck next year in MLS is Eden Hazrd. The Real Madrid attacker has not been able to fit in at the European champions, as well as having suffered a heavy blow with the Belgian national team at the World Cup in Qatar.
He is now left mulling his future at club level after he decided to end his time as an international player, and his future could be in a new league.
MLS a real possibility
« If Real Madrid tell me in the summer that I have to leave, I will accept it. In the summer it’s possible I could leave, in the winter it’s impossible, » he told MARCA in an interview recently.
« I have one more year on my contract and it’s the club’s decision. » T
Should Los Blancos decide to put an end to Hazard’s adventure in Spain, the door to America could open.
MLS is becoming an increasingly appealing market for players, especially for those whose careers are coming to an end.
It may be that Eden Hazard is no longer in a position to continue competing at the highest level, and could see in MLS a new challenge that allows him to start from scratch and forget his last years.
A growing league
More and more players are looking to try their luck in the United States, and not just those of an older age. Many young players are looking to MLS to further their careers. This is the case of Thiago Almada (Argentinean who is at the World Cup in Qatar) or Federico Bernardeschi (the Italian forward who interested many teams in Europe). Obviously, other veterans such as Gareth Bale, Lorenzo Insigne or Giorgio Chiellini are in the North American league to finish their careers.
Hazard will have more options for sure, as his time at Chelsea was successful enough to consider that he has the ability to compete in Europe. But if it is he himself who decides to try new challenges elsewhere, MLS seems the right place for the Belgian attacker.
