Lionel Messi won the only trophy missing from his trophy cabinet, and perhaps the most important of all, by winning the World Cup in Qatar 2022 with Argentina, confirming his place as one of, if not, the greatest footballer of all time.

When ‘La Pulga’ won the World Cup, he was still a player of Paris Saint-Germain, who instead of receiving Leo with a tribute, the French club preferred not to do so.

Much has been said about the reasons why he chose not to do so, such as the fact that Argentina beat France in the final or whether his teammate, Kylian Mbappe, would be upset with the potential tribute.

He also gave the reason why PSG decided not to honor the Argentine after he won the World Cup.

Messi reportedly expressed in an interview with Argentine Miguel Granados that he ‘did not feel good at PSG‘ and that the experience ‘was not as expected’.

He also stressed in the same interview that of the 26 players who won the World Cup with Argentina, he was the only one who did not receive a tribute from his club, which made him very unhappy with PSG.
