Although all the focus is on the Qatar 2022 World Cup, Cristiano Ronaldo is now a free agent and his future is still uncertain.
Sources close to MARCA reported that the player has everything in place to sign with Al-Nassr of Saudi Arabia on what would be the biggest contract in the history of football.
But while nothing is official, questions are still being asked and one of those was aimed at PSG president Nasser Al Khelaifi, who responded on whether the club would be willing to sign the Portuguese.
« The three players that we have [Lionel] Messi, Neymar and [Kylian] Mbappe, it’s very difficult, but I wish him all the best, » he told Sky Sports.
« He’s fantastic and he’s still an amazing player. »
Cristiano ended, by mutual agreement, his contract with Manchester United last month. This came after an explosive interview he gave to Piers Morgan, where he spoke ill of the club and said he did not respect Erik ten Hag.
Everything seems to indicate that Cristiano will make a final decision after the World Cup. Portugal look like a serious candidate and are already in the quarter finals. They will next face Morocco and, if successful, would play the winner of France and England in the semi final.
At the age of 37, Cristiano is facing his last chance to shine in an international tournament. If he leaves for Saudi Arabia, he will be out of the media spotlight. The player has yet to make a statement, although it is highly likely he will join Al-Nassr.
