Stade de Reims managed a huge 1-1 draw against Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes on Sunday.
William Still’s men have now gone 12 games unbeaten in Ligue 1, with veteran defender Yunis Abdelhamid expressing his joy about the result away at PSG.
After the game, Abdelhamid explained that Reims managed to grab a point partly because PSG’s attacking trident of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe‘s rarely contribute in defence.
« We put in a lot of effort and we were rewarded, » Abdelhamid said.
« We are happy because it was tough. We know PSG‘s quality. We wanted to maintain our streak.
« We had to start strong. They surprised us at the beginning, but that’s not the point, that’s part of the game. We kept playing, we pressed high.
« They got a red card, that made it easier for us. Regardless of the result, we wanted to leave with no regrets. We were rewarded and we are happy.
« I didn’t notice them being nervous. I think PSG are a team who are aware and confident of their qualities.
« We analyzed them and knew their weaknesses. We know they don’t defend much upfront (laughs). We could have been more decisive because we didn’t finish our chances well.
« They had weaknesses and we tried to exploit them. It’s difficult to play with them because when they have the ball, they are very good. But there’s more to a game than that. »
