Cristiano Ronaldo is looking for a new team after leaving Manchester United. After his explosive interview with Piers Morgan, and the Qatar 2022 World Cup with Portugal, his future is still unresolved.
MARCA reported that Cristiano would join Al-Nassr of Saudi Arabia, starting in January. They are still favourites to sign him although it is not yet official.
Despite his high demands, Cristiano Ronaldo has had many offers. The Portuguese wants to continue at the highest level, so he has heard all kinds of suitors interested in signing him.
Marseille were close
What we were close to seeing was Cristiano Ronaldo and Leo Messi again in the same league. The Portuguese was very close to playing in Ligue 1, alongside Neymar, Mbappe and Messi. Yet not at PSG, but at the Parisians’ eternal rivals: Marseille.
This has been confirmed by Basile Boli, ambassador of the French club, and a Marseille legend after winning the European Cup with them, scoring the only goal of the match against AC Milan.
Boli gave an interview to NW Sport in which he gave the details: « Cristiano Ronaldo was in talks with Olympique [Marseille], I think he should have come.
« He is a talented player, even if he is a bit old, I think that in the French championship he still has something to give.
« We saw that, for Messi, it didn’t work out in the first year and then in the second year he proved he was number one. »
This move could have happened last summer, before the start of the season with Manchester United that ended abruptly.
Pablo Longoria, president of Marseille, never confirmed it. However, Boli’s statements confirm that the French club tried to sign him and came close to doing so.
What the former player did not say is whether OM tried again in this winter market, when the player is free and without a team.
