Southampton are working towards a permanent deal for Villarreal forward Nicolas Jackson.
Villarreal are holding firm in their €20million valuation of the 21-year-old, but Southampton are now getting closer to an agreement with the La Liga club, having previously been in talks over a six-month loan deal with an option to buy.
Southampton are also making progress towards agreeing personal terms with Jackson.
Jackson is keen on a move to the Premier League side, with his representatives exploring options for Southampton to reach Villarreal’s asking price.
The Athletic has previously reported that Jackson was a target for Southampton as they look to strengthen their forward line.
Aston Villa’s Danny Ings and Bristol City’s Antoine Semenyo have also been spoken about as potential options.
Jackson has been a regular fixture in the Villarreal side this season, registering three goals and three assists across 24 matches in all competitions.
The forward was also a member of Aliou Cisse’s Senegal squad at the 2022 World Cup, making his debut for his country during the tournament.
