Ivan Fresneda is set to stay at Real Valladolid until the end of the season, despite interest from the Premier League and Bundesliga.
The right-back was left out of his side’s La Liga win over Valencia on Sunday, with Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund suitors in the January transfer window.
The Athletic has reported that both clubs had agreed terms on a proposed transfer worth €15million ($16.2m; £13.1m), with the intention to loan Fresneda back to the Spanish side for the rest of this season.
Newcastle United had also pursued the Spain Under-19 international, before dropping out of the race.
Only Dortmund had held talks with Valladolid about a proposed transfer.
Valladolid want to sell Fresneda in this window rather than wait until the summer, and are pushing for the player to accept a proposal ahead of Tuesday’s transfer deadline.
But Fresneda has told Valladolid coach Pacheta that he wants to stay put for now.
The 18-year-old has a release clause in his recently improved contract — which runs until 2025 — worth €30million.
