Chelsea have completed the signing of goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen from Villarreal.
The Athletic reported last week the clubs had agreed a fee of €24.5million (£20.7m, $26.6m) for the 22-year-old, and he has signed a seven-year deal that runs until 2031.
He will now join up with Chelsea on their pre-season tour of the United States.
“This move is a dream come true,” Jorgensen said. “I am very excited to have signed for Chelsea, one of the biggest clubs in the world. I can’t wait to get to know everyone and to start playing with all my new teammates.”
Jorgensen established himself as Villarreal’s No 1 goalkeeper last season, making 37 first-team appearances across all competitions.
The Sweden-born goalkeeper has been capped up to under-21 level by Denmark and joined Villarreal’s youth system in 2017.
Djordje Petrovic made the majority of appearances in goal for Chelsea last season (31) after coming in following an injury to Robert Sanchez in December.
Marcus Bettinelli and Lucas Bergstrom are other goalkeepers in the first-team squad, while Kepa Arrizabalaga has returned to the club following a season-long loan spell at Real Madrid.
Chelsea have once again been highly active in the summer transfer market with six summer signings already secured as Tosin Adarabioyo, Caleb Wiley, Marc Guiu, Omari Kellyman, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Renato Veiga have all been signed. The London club are also set to sign Aaron Anselmino from Boca Juniors.
Chelsea have also confirmed the €57m signing of Brazilian winger Willian Estevao from Palmeiras. The 17-year-old will officially join up with the squad next summer, after he has turned 18.
The Athletic reported earlier today Napoli are in ongoing discussions with Chelsea to sign Romelu Lukaku, while dialogue between the clubs continues about a deal for Victor Osimhen to head in the opposite direction. Atletico Madrid, meanwhile, are in advanced discussions over a move for midfielder Conor Gallagher.
Ian Maatsen, Lewis Hall, Omari Hutchinson, Hakim Ziyech and Thiago Silva are among the players who have left Stamford Bridge on a permanent basis this summer.
