Al Nassr defender Aymeric Laporte says he would listen to a call from Real Madrid if the Spanish club approached him.

Madrid are down to one fit senior centre-back in Antonio Rudiger following the anterior cruciate ligament injury (ACL) sustained by Eder Militao last weekend. David Alaba is still recovering after a knee operation last December, while over the summer, Madrid failed to beat Manchester United to the signing of Leny Yoro and saw captain Nacho leave the club.

Another former club captain Sergio Ramos has been mentioned as a potential January addition but the Madrid board does not seem keen to re-sign the 38-year-old, who is still a free agent after leaving Sevilla at the end of last season.

Laporte has also previously been linked to Madrid, with the board and head coach Carlo Ancelotti already fans of the 30-year-old before Militao’s second ACL injury in as many seasons.

“A call from Madrid? Sounds good,” Laporte told El Larguero. “I would listen to the call. “Obviously, you don’t look down on teams like Real Madrid.”

Laporte joined Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr from Manchester City for €27.5million in the summer of 2023, signing a three-year contract.

But the Spain international said in January that he and other players are not completely satisfied with life in Saudi Arabia.

Asked about a potential return to Europe, Laporte told Cadena Ser: “My idea of going back is there. My whole family is in Europe.”

And on football in Saudi Arabia, he added: “There is still a lot of room for improvement. They have made a strong commitment to football only a few years ago. It will grow slowly or very fast depending on how they want to do it.”

Laporte is with the Spain squad preparing to face Denmark and Switzerland in the Nations League.

Following the international break, Madrid face Leganes on Sunday, November 24.
