Atletico Madrid are not willing to let Yannick Carrasco leave the Wanda Metropolitano this window.
Reporters from Spain suggested Carrasco was on the cusp of leaving Atletico to join Barcelona as part of a swap deal for Memphis Depay.
But Diego Simeone’s side are not keen to use the 29-year-old in a swap deal or let him depart otherwise.
Meanwhile, Xavi has insisted he is depending on Memphis, 28, at Barcelona.
He said on Wednesday: “I have no news from Memphis. He’s a professional and I’m delighted with him. He is a good player in the dressing room. In principle, I’m counting on him for everything.
“Whether he wants to leave or not. It’s not an easy situation for him. Whether he wants to leave or not, I don’t know. I will discuss it with him”.
Barcelona take on AD Ceuta in the Copa del Rey on Thursday. They overcame Real Madrid to win the Supercopa de Espana on Sunday night, the first trophy of Xavi’s time as head coach.
