Two Brighton & Hove Albion supporters were stabbed in Rome on Wednesday night ahead of the club’s Europa League last-16 first-leg tie against Roma.
The pair were attacked as they left a bar and were taken to hospital with minor wounds.
Their injuries were not serious and they have since been discharged. Brighton, the Sussex Police liaisons and the British Consulate are in contact with them.
Brighton have also reiterated the safety advice they issued to travelling fans in an update on the club’s website last week.
Brighton face Roma at 5.45pm GMT (6.45pm local time) on Thursday in the first leg of their tie. The Premier League sold out their allocation for the game and around 3,500 of their fans are expected at the Olimpico.
The second leg comes at the Amex Stadium next Thursday.
