Manchester United dominated Sheriff Tiraspol in the Europa League, running out 3-0 winners at Old Trafford. Cristiano Ronaldo, Marcus Rashford, and Diogo Dalot got on the score sheet for the home side.

Erik ten Hag’s men outshot their Moldavan opponents 24 to zero and controlled 75% of possession.

After struggling to create clear-cut chances for much of the first half, United got their breakthrough in the 44th minute as Dalot headed home a corner kick.

Rashford double the lead for Erik ten Hag’s side in the 65th minute with another headed finish. Ronaldo capped off the night with his tally in the 81st minute, scoring on his return to the squad after his walk-out against Tottenham last week and consequent omission from the side that faced Chelsea over the weekend.

With the win, United clinch a spot in Group E’s top two, assuring them of reaching at least the knockout stage play-off round. They travel to Spain next week, where a win over Real Sociedad by multiple goals is needed to overtake them for first place.

Group E table

  1. Real Sociedad: 15 points
  2. Manchester United: 12 points
  3. Sheriff Tiraspol: 3 points
  4. Omonia Nicosia: 0 points
