Manchester United are finalising the details for Jadon Sancho to complete his proposed loan move to Borussia Dortmund.

The 23-year-old is expected to travel to Germany today, with The Athletic reporting on Tuesday that Dortmund were hopeful of this happening.

Should everything go according to plan, it is anticipated Sancho will undergo a medical and sign for Dortmund within the next 48 hours.

United reached a loan agreement in a deal valued at a minimum of €3.5million (£3m) with Dortmund for Sancho. The German club will contribute to his salary, and United stand to receive potential bonus payments based on his performances.

Since September, Sancho has been training away from United’s first team after a disagreement with manager Erik ten Hag.

Refusing to apologise, Sancho expressed feeling like “a scapegoat for a long time” amid claims by Ten Hag that his performances in training had been poor, resulting in his exclusion from the matchday squad for the 3-1 defeat at Arsenal. He has effectively been banished from first-team training and not been considered for selection since.

Despite United’s openness to selling Sancho to Saudi Arabia last summer, the player opted for a loan and spent time in New York.

Sancho initially gained prominence during his four-year stint at Dortmund, winning the German Supercup and DFB-Pokal.

Since joining United, Sancho has made 82 appearances, scoring 12 times. His last appearance came in the win over Nottingham Forest on August 26.

Dortmund, returning from Marbella during the Bundesliga’s winter break, are set to face Darmstadt away when the league resumes on Saturday.
