Jamal Musiala has confirmed that he is in talks with Bayern Munich over signing a new contract.

The 21-year-old’s future has been the source of speculation for months as his current deal is set to expire in the summer of 2026.

But, speaking to Sky Sports after scoring a first-half hat-trick in Bayern’s 5-0 win over Mainz in the DFB-Pokal — the German Cup — Musiala said he is already discussing an improved deal and that he is enthusiastic about staying at the club long-term.

“Yes, I can already imagine (extending the contract),” he said. “We are in talks and I’m happy here.”

Musiala’s future has been a priority for Bayern. Speaking in September, Christoph Freund, the club’s sports director, admitted that: “We want him to stay at Bayern for as long as possible” and that “it’s not our goal to sell him.”

A week later, Max Eberl, Bayern’s board member for sport, was a guest on Sport1’s Doppelpass, where he confirmed that the club see Musiala as central to their future.

“Jamal should be the face of FC Bayern. Will it be difficult? Difficult yes, but not impossible. Jamal knows what he has in FC Bayern. It’s the club that took him to this level. We’re ambitious, we want to win titles, just like Jamal. Bayern’s goal is to keep Jamal.”

On the pitch, Musiala is enjoying another stellar season. Despite an injury before the October international break, he has scored four goals in six appearances and has managed double-figures in each of his past two seasons.

He was also Germany’s top-scorer in the recent European Championship, despite Julian Nagelsmann’s side being eliminated at the quarter-final stage by Spain.
