Richard Keys thinks Liverpool should appoint Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou to succeed Jurgen Klopp.
The German manager is leaving the Reds at the end of the season after nine-year at Anfield.
The race to become the new Liverpool boss is heating up with several big names managers linked to the Premier League club.
Xabi Alonso was once leading the race to become the next Reds manager but his decision to stay at Bayer Leverkusen forced the Merseyside club to change their plans.
Sporting manager Ruben Amorim was reportedly leading the race after it, however, things have taken a surprising turn in the last week.
Feyenoord manager Arne Slot is the leading contender to become the new Liverpool manager now with negotiations already underway between both the clubs and the manager.
However, Keys believes that the Premier League giants should try to convince one of their rival managers to join them.
He said on beIN SPORTS: “I’d go for Postecoglou.
“The reason I say that is, initially I thought it would take too much to get him out, then I was told that because he wasn’t first choice, his salary’s not great and the buy-out not very big.
“That would be my preferred choice. I think he’d be terrific at Anfield.
“I just didn’t think it would be possible because I couldn’t see [Daniel] Levy letting him go, but I’m told the figures do make sense.”
Liverpool have no plans to move for Postecoglou
Postecoglou has been impressive in his debut season at the club. Tottenham have played attacking football that the Liverpool faithful would love from their new manager.
Slot is currently the outstanding favourite to become the new Liverpool boss with talks reportedly at an advanced stage.
The Reds have not considered Postecoglou in their chase of a new manager and a move at this stage for the Spurs boss is not on the cards.
