Newcastle consider move for 21-year-old English star

Newcastle are reportedly interested in the signing of Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford as they prepare to lose Martin Dubravka in the summer transfer window.

After a season that seemed to be plagued with constant injuries, Newcastle fans will be hoping that their side has a busy summer transfer window.

They need to add more outlets in wide areas up front and also add more options in their defence, where their squad depth was exposed the most.

But it seems that at the top of their list is a new goalkeeper, with rumours linking current back-up Dubravka with a move away at the end of the season.

Eddie Howe’s side has been heavily linked with Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale, who has fallen out of favour in North London with David Raya usurping his number-one position.

However, according to a report from journalist Alan Nixon on his Patreon, they are considering Burnley’s young shot-stopper Trafford.

The 21-year-old only joined from the Manchester City academy last year with Vincent Kompany a big admirer of his.

But after a difficult second half of the season, Trafford was dropped to the bench where he spent the final two months of the season.

Considering his age and potential, he could be in the perfect environment to compete with Nick Pope at St. James’ Park.
