Manchester City will welcome Newcastle United to the Etihad Stadium on Saturday evening for an important FA Cup quarter-final tie.
The Cityzens, after winning the treble last season, are looking to defend their crown but will need to get past Eddie Howe’s Magpies first.
Fortunately for Pep Guardiola, the stats are on his team’s side. Manchester City have beaten Newcastle in 15 of their last 16 home games, in all competitions, with their only defeat coming back in October 2014 when the Magpies won a League Cup tie 2-0.
And looking to continue their dominant run, today’s home team come into the tie as overwhelming favourites.
Newcastle will feel they have nothing to lose though. Although Howe has helped turn their fortunes around, this season has largely been a disappointing one.
Currently sitting 10th in the Premier League table on 40 points after 28 games and already out of the Carabao Cup and Champions League, the Magpies know the FA Cup represents their best chance of winning silverware.
So, ahead of the important match, which is scheduled to kick off at 5.30 p.m. (UK time), both managers have named their starting lineups.
