Chelsea defender Benoit Badiashile is reportedly emerging as a transfer target for AC Milan after failing to win over Blues boss Mauricio Pochettino.
Badiashile looked an exciting signing for Chelsea when he joined from Monaco just over a year ago, but it’s fair to say it’s not quite happened for him at Stamford Bridge so far.
It may now be that the France international is running out of time to prove himself for the west London giants, and it might be good for him to think about reviving his career elsewhere at the end of this current campaign.
According to TV Play, Badiashile is on Milan’s radar as they’re keen to strengthen in defence this summer, so it will be interesting to keep an eye on this saga in the weeks and months ahead.
Should Chelsea consider Badiashile transfer exit?
A lot of faith has been placed in Chelsea’s young players, with Badiashile among those to join CFC under Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali, who are focusing on a long-term project more than chasing instant success, which was more the strategy under previous owner Roman Abramovich.
From that point of view, the club may want to keep faith in Badiashile for a while longer, but at times it’s also surely sensible to assess which players look like they’re worth waiting for, and which ones might be better off being moved on.
It’s hard to know which of those two camps Badiashile falls into, but if it’s accurate that Pochettino doesn’t seem to see much in him, then the Blues board would probably do well to take that into account.
Milan revived the careers of former Chelsea flops like Fikayo Tomori, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Christian Pulisic, so Badiashile could take some heart from that if he does decide to try a new challenge at the San Siro.
