Man United defender Raphael Varane wants to remain at the Premier League club for the rest of his career and is ready to negotiate a new deal at Old Trafford.
That is according to Todofichajes, who reports that the French star is willing to reduce his salary at Man United as he is happy to remain in England for many years.
It was reported by ESPN earlier this year that Man United will not be triggering the one-year extension in his current deal but a new one may be negotiated before his contract expires in 2025.
The 30-year-old is currently earning £340,000-a-week at Old Trafford and Sir Jim Ratcliffe will want this lowered if he is to stay with the Red Devils.
Varane has interest from Saudi Arabia but according to Todofichajes, the defender has no intentions of moving to the Middle East.
What other options does Raphael Varane have?
If Man United want to part ways with Varane altogether, the options on the table are not very clear at present, but they would likely want to get some of the money back from the £41m they paid for the former Real Madrid star in 2021.
The Frenchman has previously stated that he would love to return to Madrid or Lens as the 30-year-old wants to retire at a club he has previously played for.
It would be wise for Man United to offer Varane a new deal, especially if he is willing to reduce his salary, as the centre-back has a bundle of experience and can be a great partner for whoever Erik ten Hag wants to play in defence.
The Dutch coach is in the market for a new central defender this summer and the new arrival could benefit from Varane’s presence at Man United.
