Three targets for Manchester United under new boss Ruben Amorim have emerged with a trio of ‘Galacticos’ which could arrive from the January transfer window onwards.

Amorim has been in charge at Old Trafford since last month after arriving from Portuguese side Sporting to replace the sacked Erik ten Hag.

United’s form under Amorim has fluctuated, with the past week being a good example of this.

United came from behind last weekend to beat Manchester City 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium, before being involved in a remarkable 4-3 defeat at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur as they exited the Carabao Cup at the quarter-final stage.

And United’s topsy-turvy campaign continued this afternoon as Bournemouth stunned Amorim’s side with a 3-0 victory at Old Trafford.

Dean Huijsen gave the Cherries the lead inside the half-hour, before Justin Kluivert converted from the penalty spot after the hour mark following a foul in the box by Noussair Mazraoui on the forward.

And Bournemouth netted a third shortly afterwards through Antoine Semenyo to complete the victory for Andoni Iraola’s side.

The defeat has left United still sitting in 13th place in the top flight, with the Cherries fifth and three points behind fourth placed side Nottingham Forest as the Vitality Stadium club maintains their position around the European football qualification places.

Having arrived midway through the season, Amorim is working with the squad he inherited from Ten Hag and he has not yet had the chance to bring any of his own players into the club.

The January transfer window is under a fortnight away from opening and according to a recent report, Amorim is requesting United sign a trio of ‘Galacticos’ to help rebuild the squad.

According to El Nacional, Amorim is seeking to bring Victor Osimhen to Old Trafford, who is currently on loan at Turkish side Galatasaray from Italian outfit Napoli.

This could happen in January owing to a special clause which was inserted into the deal which took the striker to Turkey and allows sides to pay €75m to trigger a permanent move elsewhere.

Osimhen’s arrival would boost United’s forward line, which currently has Rasmus Hojlund, Joshua Zirkzee and Marcus Rashford among those who can play through the middle of the attack.

Osimhen was one of several strikers linked with a move to United in the summer of 2023, when the club opted to sign Hojlund from Atalanta.

Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo is also mentioned in the story as another potential signing, as well as young Southampton midfielder Tyler Dibling.

And it is reported that deals for all three would total around €200m, or £166m, but it remains to be seen how many of the trio, if any, United can get over the line.
