Ryan Reynolds welcomed another Hollywood A-lister to Wrexham this weekend as Phil Parkinson’s side played out a 2-2 draw with Cambridge United.

Since taking ownership of Wrexham in 2021, Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have invited many celebrities to the Stok Racecourse – including Blake Lively, Paul Rudd, Will Ferrell and Hugh Jackman.

And this weekend it was the turn of another high-profile movie star in Channing Tatum, known for roles in Step Up, She’s the Man, Magic Mike and 21 Jump Street.

Tatum, who also has a cameo as X-Men character Gambit in Deadpool and Wolverine, accompanied Reynolds to Wrexham pub Fat Boar on Friday night as the Canadian offered to get the drinks in.

In a video shared online, Reynolds said: “I’m buying a round for everyone in here, which might be bussing in another hundred people as we speak but that’s fine.

“And then I’m going to go right now, get the f**k out and go to bed. I have four kids, and this is a night off where I just get to go to bed when I want to, which I’m very excited about.”

The 44-year-old, who has a reported net worth of $80 million, took to Instagram to post a picture of him sporting a Wrexham snood and writing, “And just like that I’m in Wales bout to see a Wrexham match! Let’s goooo.”

Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong was also in attendance for the 2-2 draw, with pictures of him, Tatum and Reynolds doing the rounds online.

Tatum, meanwhile, was pictured with Wrexham captain James McLean after the game and was then filmed partying with strikers Ollie Palmer and Steven Fletcher after the game – posting footage on his Instagram story.

Wrexham found themselves 1-0 down in the 20th minute when Elias Kachunga opened the scoring, before McLean levelled matters.

Fletcher put the hosts in the lead but a late Dan Nlundulu penalty ensured the points were shared.

Co-owner McElhenney reacted to the draw, taking to X to write: “Sorry for the result @channingtatum and @billiejoe. But we always get up and go again. On to Saturday! Up the town!”.

Wrexham, currently third in League One, return to action on Saturday when they take on Bristol Rovers away from home.
