Sydney Sweeney looks completely unrecognisable in the first glimpse of a new role in a boxing film.

Sweeney, who has starred in Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood and TV series Euphoria, has been very active in the movie business lately, working on two projects this year.

And she’s laying the groundwork for her next film, showing off her remarkable body transformation to portray a legendary boxer.

The 27-year-old is to play boxing great Christy Martin in a new biopic as she officially announced the film.

On Instagram, she shared two images of her dramatic transformation, revealing her bulging biceps and deltoids in a vest top, accompanied with the caption: “Well the cats out of the bag thanks to some paps in bushes so here’s a little bts from my film im working on right now. over the past few months, i’ve been immersed in training to bring to life the story of an incredible woman-a true champion who fought battles both inside and outside the ring. her journey is a testament to resilience, strength, and hope, and I’m honored to step into her shoes to share her powerful story with you all. more to come soon 🙂 CHRISTY MARTIN.”

Sweeney will play Martin, who is said to be the ‘most successful and prominent female boxer’ in the United States.

She’s also credited for ‘legitimising’ women’s participation in the sport.

Martin – knowns as ‘The Coal Miner’s Daughter’ – made her boxing debut in 1989 and had her last fight in 2012.

She held the WBC female super-welterweight title in 2009 after beating Dakota Stone by majority decision.

During her stellar career, she also fought Muhammad Ali’s daughter, Laila, as well as former UFC champion Holly Holm.

Martin was the first female boxer elected to the Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame in 2016 and was also inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2020.
