Ivan Juric has been named as head coach of Roma on a one-year contract following the sacking of Daniele De Rossi.

Juric, 49, succeeds former manager De Rossi, who was sacked on Wednesday after overseeing a winless start to the new campaign.

The Croatian takes over at the Stadio Olimpico with Roma 16th in the table with three draws and one defeat from their opening four games.

Juric returns to management having stepped down as Torino head coach in the summer. Prior to Torino, Juric spent two years as head coach of Hellas Verona and three separate spells at Genoa.

De Rossi’s exit was announced on Wednesday two days after Roma’s 1-1 draw at Genoa, the side’s fourth match without a win since the start of 2023-24.

The former Italy midfielder, who made over 600 appearances for the club as a player, replaced Jose Mourinho at the Stadio Olimpico in January.

In June, he was rewarded with a three-year contract after leading Roma to sixth in Serie A and the last four of the Europa League.
