Liverpool have rejected a cash plus player offer from Nottingham Forest for goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher.
The proposed deal, which would have seen Forest ‘keeper Matt Turner move in the opposite direction, did not come close to the Merseyside club’s £25 million to £30 million valuation and they are not looking to sell the Republic of Ireland international before Friday’s transfer deadline.
Forest are considering a number of potential goalkeeper targets but have a long-standing interest in Kelleher having had an approach rebuffed at the end of the January window.
The 25-year-old has made no secret of his desire to become a No 1 after proving himself to be a high-calibre back-up for Alisson at Anfield.
Kelleher, who made 26 appearances for Liverpool in all competitions last season, has two years remaining on his contract.
Earlier this week Liverpool completed a £29m deal to sign Georgia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia.
However, he will remain with the La Liga club for the rest of this season before moving to Merseyside in July 2025.
As a result Liverpool are counting on Kelleher for the coming season and are reluctant to lose him.
Liverpool’s third senior goalkeeper Marcelo Pitaluga is set to join Scottish Championship outfit Livingston on loan.
The 21-year-old Brazilian, who joined Liverpool from Fluminense in 2020, has previously spent time on loan at Macclesfield and St Patrick’s Athletic. Earlier this year he penned a new long-term contract at Anfield.
