Inter Miami claimed their fifth straight win away to CF Montreal, beating them 3-2 to remain at the top of the MLS standings with 27 points for another day, a game that had a curious feature compared to their last four Major League Soccer matches: they always started off on the losing side.

In those five matches, the star of the team, beyond his own name, was none other than Lionel Messi who, in addition to playing all 90 minutes in those matches, scored a whopping six goals, being the team’s top scorer in that stretch of matches along with Luis Suarez.

The comeback at the Saputo Stadium in front of a crowd of 23,112 started towards the end of the first half when a direct free-kick from Paraguay’s Matias Rojas made it 2-0 to the home side.

Four minutes later, Suarez equalised and Cremaschi gave them the win in the 59th minute after finishing off a move initiated by the Argentinian star.

Messi continues to dominate

This particular run began at Arrowhead Stadium on April 24 when they beat Sporting Kansas City (2-3) after starting 1-0 down. That comeback was witnessed by 72,610 people, a record attendance for an MLS match. Messi made it 1-2 after 51 minutes.

They followed that match by hosting Nashville SC at home and dispatching them 3-1, after a Negri own goal in the second minute. The Argentina captain equalised in the 11th minute and scored the third in the 81st minute.

The third comeback in question took place at Gillette Stadium in front of 65,612 spectators, who saw Messi score a brace to start a 4-1 comeback against the New England Revolution, who had been trailing from minute one.

The penultimate match in which the Herons had to fight back from behind to turn the result around was against New York Red Bulls, who they thrashed 6-2 with a goal from the Argentinian No10, who sealed the partial comeback with a 2-1 win after losing the first half (0-1).
