Bukayo Saka has left the England camp and returned to club side Arsenal to continue his rehabilitation, the Football Association (FA) announced on Thursday.

The FA’s press release said the 22-year-old arrived at the camp at St. Georges Park with an injury and has been unable to participate in training sessions.

Saka will miss England’s upcoming friendlies against Brazil on Saturday and Belgium three days later.

England have not called up a replacement for the winger who has scored 11 times in 32 appearances for his country. He has been named England men’s player of the year in both of the last two seasons.

Saka played over 120 minutes in Arsenal’s Champions League round-of-16 second leg against Porto, converting his penalty in the shootout that eventually saw the north London club progress.

The injury news will come as a worry for the Arsenal, who are involved in a close three-team title race in the Premier League.

Liverpool are level on points with Mikel Arteta’s team who are top of the league on goal difference, while reigning champions Manchester City are a point behind as they look to become the first team to win four consecutive Premier League titles.

Arsenal’s next game is against City at the Etihad on March 31.
