Paris Saint-Germain failed to return to winning ways on Saturday, as Kylian Mbappe’s second half penalty was cancelled out in the closing stages, forcing them to settle for a 1-1 draw with Toulouse.

The French giants were held to a disappointing goalless draw by Lorient on matchday one, with the team feeling the absence of their star striker.

However, their hopes were recently boosted when Mbappe was welcomed back into the fold, and he made his presence felt on Saturday by scoring what looked to be the winning goal

Mbappe started from the bench

Although the match marked Mbappe’s return to the PSG squad, the Frenchman started the match on the bench, as Luis Enrique opted for an attack comprised of Vitinha, Goncalo Ramos and Lee Kang-In.

While the French giants had most of the possession for the entire match, the attack once again failed to find its footing.

That all changed when Mbappe was brought in minutes after the restart for what was his first Ligue 1 appearance of the campaign.

He made his presence felt immediately, as the striker needed just eight minutes and 28 seconds to win a penalty for PSG, which he fired home.

PSG still searching

Unfortunately for Enrique’s men, just as three points looked all but assured, Toulouse found an equalizer with a penalty of their own.

Achraf Hakimi made a silly challenge on Zakaria Aboukhlal in the penalty area, with the Moroccan international keeping his cool and slotting home from the spot to the delight of the home fans.

In the end PSG finished the match with 78 percent possession, but it wasn’t enough, as they are still searching for their first win of the league campaign after two matches.
